Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Evan John and Catherine “kit” (Lamont) Davies.
Jack grew up in the New Aberdeen area of Glace Bay. He was employed with the British Canadian Co-Op and Alteens Jeweller for many years. He then opened a business of his own; he ran a very successful shuttle service called Starline which he enjoyed running with his wife, Susan.
Jack was involved in many things from being a member of the Men of the Deeps, to sitting on the Glace Bay Hospital Board. He was also a former member of the Salvation Army and a member of the Pentecostal Church, which is now My Fathers House.
Jack loved music and if he wasn’t singing, he was whistling. He was also an avid and exceptional bowler, winning many competitions. Jack was a very soft-spoken person who loved to talk to anyone and enjoyed a good laugh. After his retirement, you could often find him puttering around the yard or watching his favourite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leaf’s.
Jack will be sadly missed by sons Jack Davies Jr. (Sherry) and Keith; granddaughters Brittany (Justin) Brimicombe and Shauna Davies; sister Margaret “Margie” (Aaron) Ont; sister-in-laws Mabel and Lena and his cousin Alfie Dejeet, with whom he loved to spend time golfing with.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Susan (white), to whom he was married for over 60 years and his brother Bill.
In following, his wish of cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home.
Funeral service will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank the support received by friends, the public and the various Police Departments in Nova Scotia.
