82-Donkin
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgina Butler (Munden) of Donkin, Nova Scotia. Georgina passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, November 27, at the age of 82. Born in Rose Blanche, Newfoundland, on January 4, 1941, Georgina was the loving daughter of the late Edward and Maria Munden.
Georgina was a beloved wife to the late Wilson Butler of 59 years and a devoted mother to her daughter, Christine (Danny) Flynn, son, Hughie (Amanda) Butler, and fur-baby, Minnie. She was a cherished grandmother to Danielle Flynn, Coady, and Ethan Butler.
She is survived by her brothers Johnny, Arthur (Diana), Harry (Tammy), Albert (Lena), Wilfred (Lori), sister Susie (Norman) Seymour, sister in law Alma ‘Daisy’ Kaifosh and Melida Munden. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Maria Munden, sister Martha (Jim) Styles, and brother Junior.
In her younger years, Georgina enjoyed traveling to Newfoundland, where her visits were filled with cherished moments and shared laughter with family.
In her day-to-day life, Georgina loved completing crosswords, watching the latest episodes of Coronation Street with her daughter, and spending evenings shopping for her next trinket. She also enjoyed socializing and participating on the Donkin Legion Mixed Dart Team.
Georgina was loved and will be missed by many family members, in-laws, and her extended Flynn family. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 1 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay, NS. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, at 1:00 PM at Patten Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Biggar officiating, followed by the burial at St. Luke’s United Cemetery, Donkin. Our sincere appreciation goes out to Patsy Leblanc and Olga Flynn, for their compassion during Georgina's final hours. We cannot thank you enough for the comfort you provided during a difficult time. Additionally, we would like to extend a special acknowledgment to Billy Huntington, long-time neighbour. Your unwavering kindness over the years meant the world to her. You were more than a neighbour, you became a dear friend.
