Born in Halifax on February 14,1945 she was the daughter of James and Marie Alice Richardson. She was a member of St. Mary’s parish, Port Morien. Eileen was an excellent care giver, a wise and intelligent person who loved nature, animals, gardening and people. Mom would foster anyone who came to her door in need, whether two or four legged. She was an avid bingo player and spent many Monday nights at the Port Morien Legion Bingo Game.
Eileen is survived by daughters; Diane Bauder, Black Brook, Denise (John) LaPointe, N.B.,Dana (David) Thompson, N.B., sons; David J.D. (Joanne) Barrett, Thailand and Dwayne Barrett, N.B. She is also survived by six grandchildren and very special friend and caregiver, Michelle Martell as well as good friends Vern Raymond and Michael Brigley.
Besides her mother, Marie Richardson, she was predeceased by husband, Roy Shepard and one granddaughter.
As per Eileen’s wishes visitation will take place from 2-4 pm on Wednesday , October 27,2010 with a funeral service immediately following in Patten Funeral Home Chapel, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. Burial will be in the Homeville Baptist Cemetery next to her husband Roy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Society, the Cancer Society or to the SPCA.
