Elaine Schwab, 65, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away May 30, 2022 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Gering Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. The family requests casual attire. Elaine was born August 5, 1956 in Sidney, Nebraska to Ronald and Joyce (Miller) Rupp. She grew up in Gering and attended Lincoln Elementary, Gering Junior High and graduated from Gering High School in 1974. As a youth, Elaine excelled at softball and track and field and broke the high jump record with a jump of 4-8 in 1972.
On June 9th, 1973, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Schwab, at Salem Congregational in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Together, they raised three children: Ronald, Heather, and Steven. As a young couple they enjoyed water skiing on her dad’s boat, camping, and watching their kids’ sporting events.
Elaine spent over 25 years in medical billing for Regional West. She enjoyed crafting, gardening and canning. Her family could always expect to get pickles and salsa for Christmas as well as her hard candy. She also loved to cook for her family, always being sure to make enough cabbage burgers and butter balls and noodles to share with anyone that wanted them. Elaine looked forward to gambling trips, and Summer vacations with her family. It brought her pure joy to spoil her three grandkids. She also loved all of her fur babies and treated them as if they were her own. Her favorite pastime was sitting on the porch with Kenny watching the world go by.
Elaine is survived by her father, Ronald Rupp; husband of 48 years, Kenny Schwab; son, Ronald Schwab; daughter, Heather (Chris) Landreth; son, Steven (Jennifer) Schwab; grandchildren: Treighton Landreth, Axel Schwab, and Lainey Schwab; sister, Cindy (Mark) Keller; sister-in law, Sharon Eads; sister-in-law, Susan (Stan) Bucy; sister-in-law, Connie Schwab; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Elaine is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Rupp; sister, Candace Runge; mother and father-in-law, Daniel and Norma Schwab; and brother-in-law, Danny Schwab.
