Robert earned a Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from the UT School of Allied Health Professions in Dallas and retired in 2008 after a career with the Texas Commission for the Blind and the Texas Department of Rehabilitative Services. After retirement, he served on the board of directors of the Bastrop County Children’s Advocacy Center and then on the board of the Williamson County CAC after moving to Georgetown.
Robert is survived by Laura, his wife of 51 years, his daughters Sarah Wilson and Claire Packard, his son-in-law Matt Wilson, and grandchildren Aiden and Becca Wilson. He is also survived by his brother Richard Packard, sister-in-law Debbie Vann, and nephew Ben Packard. Robert was a kind man, who loved his car, his river rafting trips in Alaska, a good beer or bourbon, and most of all his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved Sunday family dinners and annual family summer trips to various places in Texas. He was grateful for the excellent care he received from Texas Oncology Midtown and the 7th floor nurses at Ascension Seton Medical Center.
There will be a celebration of his life for family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local blood bank, the Georgetown Animal Shelter, one of the Children’s Advocacy Centers, or Seeds of Strength of Georgetown.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.cookwaldendavisfuneralhome.com for the Packard family.
