Richard, foremost, was a loving father, husband and family man.
Born in Houston, Texas where he lived his early years until graduating from Robert E. Lee High School. Summers were spent with his beloved Mimi and Dody in Walburg, Texas. Which also gave him the desire to go to Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Richard graduated in 1978 from Southwestern University with a Bachelor of Business. He also extremely enjoyed his time as a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
While Richard started out in property surveying, where he thoroughly enjoyed his giving him many fond memories. During these endeavors he found time to also enjoy the “labors” of ranching and farming family acreage in the Jarrell/Walburg area. In 2017, he realized his dream of retirement in which he had the time to enjoy being able to take many cruises and trips to Las Vegas with his beloved wife Kathy.
Richard was a family man. One of Richard’s greatest achievements was his children and grandchildren. He was extremely close to his mother Genelle and his extended family, which he held very dear to his heart.
He will be remembered for his Brisket and Fish frying abilities by those that knew and loved him!
Richard was preceded in death by his father W.A. Kalmbach.
Richard is survived by his Spouse, Kathy Kalmbach of Georgetown, Texas; Mother, Genelle Kalmbach of Georgetown, Texas; Sister, Karen Choate of Round Rock, Texas; Daughter, Kathryn and her husband Jeremy Corey of Rogers, Texas; Son, R.W. Kalmbach II of Georgetown, Texas; Grandsons, Anthony Kalmbach-Poole and Logan, Levi, and Chase Corey of Rogers, Texas; Nephew, Thomas Choate and his son Jem of Riverside, Rhode Island; Sister-in-law and husband, Gail and Jim Cox of Copperas Cove, Texas; Brother-in-law and wife, Bobby and Lisa Odom of Lometa, Texas; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who were all so very dear to him.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home with Celebrant Donna Mayfield conducting the service. A private family burial will follow.
