R.D. “Jimmie” Jefferies, Jr., age 92, of Georgetown passed away on September 3, 2022. R.D. was born on August 12, 1930, in San Antonio to his parents, the late R. D. and MayBell Jefferies. He married the love of his life, Patsy Butler, on March 30, 1957, and they were married for 65 years.
R.D. enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 by gaining special permission to enlist prior to graduation from high school. He served from 1947 – 1951. In 1952, he enlisted in the Air Force and served until 1954. While in the Navy serving on the USS Valley Forge, he received the China Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation (Asia Clasp), and the Korean Service Medal (3 stars). While in the Air Force, he received the National Defense Medal. After his time in the service, he and his father owned Best Fence Company in Oak Cliff. After selling his fence business, he consulted with Keystone Industries.
An avid hunter and sportsman, R.D. enjoyed numerous hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. Patsy and R.D. also enjoyed travelling all over the US (too many trips to Las Vegas to count!). There are enough stories about R.D.’s hijinks to fill a book.
R.D. is survived by his wife, Patsy Jefferies of Georgetown, Texas and his sister Sandra Schriewer of New Braunfels, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and a great-great-great nephew.

A memorial service to honor the life of R.D. will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Johns UMC, 311 University Avenue Georgetown, Tx 78628. R.D. will be laid to rest at 2:00 PM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Johns UMC in Georgetown.
