Edna Katherine “Kathy” Goins, 73, of Wharton, TX, born on January 7, 1949 to the union of Bill and Bonnie Dry in Hereford, TX, peacefully went home to Jesus in the early hours of March 4, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones.
Kathy was a loving, devoted, faithful Christian, and a member of Northridge Baptist Church. In her young age, she was very strait-laced and known as a “goody-goody two-shoes”. In 2009, she retired from her position at her local church to care for her father and spend more time with her loved ones. Kathy always had room in her heart for those in need, and would move mountains to help in any way she could. She was deeply loved, respected and cherished by all those who were blessed enough to meet her. In 1995, on her birthday, she met Darryl Goins, and it was love at first sight. They married the following year on March 2, 1996, and had 27 wonderful, adventurous years together. All could see and feel the deep love and admiration they held for each other.
Kathy was preceded in her death by her parents Bill and Bonnie Dry. She is survived by her loving husband Darryl Goins; children Ron Hunter and Cherice Surrett; grandchildren Kristen Surrett, Rebecca Brandsma, and Caleb Hunter; great grandchildren Isabella Surrett and Amelia Dozier; siblings Dale Dry, William Dry and Barbara Shaw; as well as numerous other family members and friends to which she held very dear.
The lord replied, “My child I would never leave you. During your times of trial, when you only see one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
“I fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Kathy’s graveside service will be held at Hopewell Cemetery in Liberty Hill, TX on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 4:30 PM. Her Pallbearers will be Joe Shaw, Eldon Surrett, Michael Dozier, Ralph Brandsma, Mike Oliver, and Brian Walla. Officiating her service will be Ron Hunter.
