Jon David Weston of Georgetown, Texas, age 77, passed away on October 12, 2024 at Bel Air Teravista after a years long struggle with dementia. Jon was born December 21, 1946 in the District of Columbia to David and Peggy Weston. After completing high school outside of Washington, D.C. in suburban Maryland, Jon attended and graduated from John Hopkins University in 1968. Mr. Weston married Karen Louise Beck in 1968 and together they settled in Rockville, Maryland to raise a family. The two remained married for 56 years, separated only by his passing.
Jon worked in computer science and government contracting for nearly 50 years and maintained his passion for his profession throughout. In addition to his career, Jon doggedly pursued the great love of his life, playing and coaching lacrosse. Jon was a passionate member of many coaching staffs over the years, including the Washington DC Lacrosse Club, John Hopkins University, Towson University, American University, Southwestern University and numerous high school teams in Maryland and Virginia. He also enjoyed watching all the Washington DC professional sports teams, in particular his beloved and, at times, infuriating Washington Capitals.
Jon is survived by his wife, Karen; his brother, Tom Weston; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Matty and Michelle, and Tim and Laurie; and his grandchildren, Nick, Abigail, Jack, Bodhi and Avery.
Jon will be cremated and his ashes sprinkled at his favorite lacrosse field in Maryland. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Austin, Texas. Those wishing to contribute in his memory can do so to the Mainspring Schools in Austin, Texas, an organization to which he often donated. More information can be found at mainspringschools.org.
