Janet (Jann) Diemer Benton, a beloved mother, grandmother, and pillar of the Georgetown community, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 81 surrounded by her children. Born on September 27, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, to Chester and Louise Diemer, Jann's life was a tapestry woven with warmth, generosity, and an unwavering zest for life.
Though her roots were in California, where she married and raised three children, Jann's heart found its true home in central Texas after relocating in 1978. Her early career was marked by diverse passions, including editing a hotrod publication and working at Redken Laboratories. However, her ultimate calling was in real estate, a field she graced for over 38 years. Jann's dedication to her clients was unparalleled; she shared her expertise freely, always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone in need.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jann's spirit soared in her love for travel, her culinary artistry, and her meticulous exploration of her family's genealogy. She embraced life with a strength and independence that inspired those around her, finding joy in simple pleasures and giving generously of her time to the Caring Place and other local charities. Her rescue dogs, Marley and Bitsy, were fortunate recipients of her culinary talents and boundless love.
Jann leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her children, Judy Hogge (and her husband, John) and Alex Pope (and his wife, Kathryn); her cherished grandchildren, Kelsey, Kayla, Jacob, and Emily; and her sister, Linda and niece Tracy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Louise Diemer, and her daughter, Janet.
A memorial service celebrating Jann's remarkable life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Georgetown. A continuation of celebrating Jann’s life will be held following the service at City Post, 113 E 8th St, Georgetown, TX 78626.
