Dianne Hitomi Armistead passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 in Round Rock, Texas. She was born on February 27, 1972 in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Dianne was the daughter of Martin and Hatsuko Armistead. Dianne was a military brat until she was 18 and lived most of that time in Giessen and Ramstein AFB, Germany. She and her family traveled all over Europe while her father was stationed overseas.
Dianne graduated from Hanks High School, attended the University of Houston and ultimately obtained her Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix.
Dianne was the Senior Director of Payroll and Benefit Services for Landry’s, a job she loved. She relished solving the challenges before her. She enjoyed her co-workers and anyone who knew Dianne or knew of Dianne, experienced her hardworking, dedicated, and loyal attitude. They recognized Dianne as a perfectionist and their “go to” person.
Outside of her professional life, she was a curious mix of no nonsense and fun. Whatever she set her mind to, she accomplished with methodical planning and execution. What prevented her from being too serious was the sense of fun and adventure she inherited from her father. She loved kids, animals, holidays, people, and she loved life. At her core, she was about family, whether it was her immediate family or the ones she created. Her generous spirit made those lucky enough to have her in their lives feel loved. Her love wasn’t sappy or gushing. It was a never-wavering love that could be counted on at any moment of the day, and through any situation.
She was a loyal and wonderful friend to have because if you had a dream, she was there to help you realize it. In her words, “If you like it, I love it.” One of her most unique traits was that she met people where they were without trying to change them. She would love them through any mistake or heartbreak. Her response when you told her about a mistake or heartbreak was, “I got you.” Ultimately, she just wanted you to be happy.
Dianne is survived by her parents, Martin and Hatsuko Armistead, her sister, Kiyomi Armistead, and her brother, Mark Armistead. She is also survived by her Houston family: Lori Daugherty King, Sharlotte Parker, Taylor Whittington, Deja Matthews, DJ Matthews, Denise, Trinity and Trinaya Anderson, and her dog, Maya. She is also survived by numerous friends from all over the world. In lieu of flowers, if you are so inclined, the family suggests a contribution to one of Dianne’s passions since she was a child – the gorillas in Rwanda, specifically the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (https://gorillafund.org).
Many thanks to those who have reached out to the Armistead family. They are extremely grateful for your love and compassion. While there are no words to express the loss, they are comforted that Dianne was loved by so many.
