Dale was born in the Parkersburg area of West Virginia. He proudly served in the Navy and Air Force as an air traffic controller and was primarily stationed on Okinawa Japan. He returned to Parkersburg after military service and married Dora Lee Huber his wife of 63 years. They moved to Texas shortly after getting married where Dale attended Abilene Christian University and earned his first bachelor’s degree. Dale was a lifetime learner and earned several degrees including master’s from St Edwards University.
Dale and Dora moved to Arlington Texas where Dale began working for the State of Texas at the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. After the birth of their son John, the family moved to Austin Texas area where their second son Steven was born. The family lived together in Austin, Georgetown, Andice, and Leander Texas. Dale retired from the Texas Rehabilitation Commission as a Deputy Commissioner after 26 yrs. Dale was family man, farmer, councilor, and educator.
Dale is survived by his wife Dora Lee, his two sons John (Rachel) Place and Steven (Kimberly) Place, and his grandchildren Justin, Allison, and Gabriel.
A visitation for Dale will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. A funeral service with military honors will occur Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. A committal service will occur Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Matsler Cemetery, 3700 County Road 2455, Florence, Texas.
