Charles Mitchell Meyer of Kyle, Texas, beloved husband and father, passed away December 28th at the age of 63. Charlie was born in St Paul, Minnesota on July 23, 1954, to the late Rupert and Loretta Meyer.
Growing up in St Paul, Charlie learned to play ice hockey at a young age, and went on to play defenseman for St Cloud State through his college years. High school summers were spent working on a soda truck and playing golf at Breezy Point Resort, Minnesota. He graduated college with a marketing degree from St Cloud State.
Charlie excelled in his work pursuits due to his all-around good nature and drive to succeed. A salesman by nature, he began his career for M&M Mars in Minneapolis, transferring to Pepsi Co in Iowa, then moving on to Fleetwood Homes in Little Rock, Arkansas and in central Texas. He was actively working for Community Coffee up until 2 years ago.
Settling in Kyle, Texas with his wife Terry, Charlie loved playing the guitar, watching anything to do with the Beatles, the movie “Miracle”, playing with his dogs, and spending time with his grown children.
Charlie was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Austin, in 2016, suffering a traumatic brain injury. He gave recovery all he had. Our family was so happy he was able to attend his youngest son’s wedding this past May, where he was fully engaged, smiling, laughing and shedding a few tears.
Many would describe him as “one of a kind”, with his infectious laugh and smile. His story telling was one of his greatest gifts, quite possibly hearing a particularly engaging story more than once, it did not matter. Charlie was a unique, colorful, passionate soul and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife Terry Correa, Charlie is survived by his two sons, Matthew Meyer of Dallas Texas and Andrew Meyer and wife Amy of Round Rock, Texas; daughter, Kailey Meyer of Mesa, Arizona; stepsons, Jason Peed, Kyle Peed and Ryan Peed, of Kyle, Texas; sisters, Carol Hentges of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Mary Meyer Allen of Punta Gorda, Florida; and brother, John R. Meyer, St Paul Minnesota.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas.
Arrangements by Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628 (512)863-2564.
