Tony was born in Fresno, California to Gladys Telles in 1942. At the age of 18 months he was moved to Los Gatos, California to live with his great Uncle Tony and Aunt Cecil. Tony and family then moved to La Salva Beach, California until about the age of 11 or 12 so he could be close to the high school in Watsonville, California. Tony played summer church league softball. Tony and Evelyn Foxworthy started dating before their senior year and married in 1961 after graduation. Tony immediately joined the Air Force and went to Basic Training and then to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi where he and Evelyn were married. Tony trained in Avionics/Nav Aids
His first assignment was Pain Field in Everett, Washington, then Clark AFB in the Philippines for two years where Evelyn and their two children joined him. Both he and Evelyn played softball for the Air Force.
Next was Alamogordo, New Mexico, Davis Monthan AFB in Arizona, Cam Rahn Base, Viet Nam, then Elmendorf AFB, Alaska where he, Evelyn and family became commercial fishermen and continued for 30 years and finally Greenland, Hill AFB, Utah, Canada, Kirkland AFB New Mexico, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, Korea, and Loring AFB Presque Island, Maine where he retired as a Master Sargent.
They returned to Alaska until 1990, when Tony and Evelyn started traveling. They traveled the US and had a Palapa in Paamul, Mexico on the Caribbean for 5 years, returning each summer to Alaska to fish.
Tony and Evelyn moved to May. Texas in 2002 and moved to Georgetown, Texas to Sun City in 2012.
As a very enthusiastic sports person, Tony was involved in the Sun City Eagle Booster Club supporting the local Georgetown High School sports.
Tony leaves behind his wife Evelyn of 63 years, two daughters, Catherine Lynn (Casey) Lyon, and Sandra Elizabeth Johnson. Five grandchildren, Amanda and husband Matt Tyler, Jessica and husband Estaban Garcia, Justin Lyon, Jared Johnson and wife Nicole, and Cory Lyon and wife Mariah. He also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren: Briana Garcia, Esteban (Tevan) Garcia, Damian Garcia, Mallory Lyon, Abigal Garcia, Louka Antone Johnson and Harper Lyon.
He leaves 3 sisters; Linda Hatcher, Carrie Maley, and Elaine Cole and husband Alan, along with 2 brothers-in-law and wives; Martin and Kathy Foxworthy, Robert and Kathy Foxworthy and 1 sister-in-law Nancy Foxworthy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony was a military man, hunter, fisherman, umpire, referee, sports enthusiast and the most wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
A visitation for Antone will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.
