Thomas Warren Kendrick, 65, of Gastonia passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, March 24th, 2024. Tom was born on June 10th, 1958, to his parents John and Shirley (Propst) Kendrick of Gastonia. Tom was a loving and caring soul. He had a good heart, and he was always seeking ways to help others. Professionally, he worked as a Postal Carrier, for the US Post Office in Gastonia, for nearly 40 years. Tom enjoyed exercising at home, being outside, and enjoying the sun. He attended City Church in Gastonia and volunteered with Samaritan’s Purse each year doing whatever was necessary to help facilitate their ministry. Tom was always on the go, but when he did slow down, he enjoyed NASCAR and all types of racing, taking trips to the beach and spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed watching football and was a die-hard Tom Brady fan. He enjoyed taking care of his ducks and spoiling his sister-in-law’s pets Zoey and Miss Kitty. Tom was not at all pretentious. He was simple and plain, but he significantly impacted all who knew and loved him. His death leaves a big hole in many people’s hearts.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Patricia (Lawing) Kendrick, of the home, brother James Kendrick of Gastonia, niece Leslie Johnson, and husband Kevin of Stanley, stepson Josh Harrison and wife Jodi in Kentucky, and their children Luke, Oliver, Ava, Zoe, Logan, and Sophia.
Tom was very close to his wife’s family. He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Carolyn Parker and husband Douglas and their children Shelby Parker and Ashley Jones. Tom also leaves behind close friends Chuck Scronce, Chip Stowe, and Jake McCray.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia North Carolina. All other services are private.
