Stephen E. Wilson

Stephen Eugene Wilson, 76, of Gastonia passed away peacefully on Thursday October 27, 2022 at Peak Resources in Gastonia. Stephen loved golf. He also enjoyed baseball and other sports. He was known for his laugh. He had a great sense of humor. Stephen was a good cook and his family will miss his fried chicken, sweet tea and macaroni salad. Stephen proudly served his county in The United States Army. He was a medic in Vietnam. He was wounded in action and he was awarded a Purple Heart. He continued his career in medicine working as a Physician’s Assistant. He worked at Gaston Memorial Hospital/CaroMont Regional Medical center for 37 years as a Physician’s Assistant and in Patient Services. Stephen loved animals. Stephen’s friends, neighbors and family will all miss him.

Stephen is the son of the late Betty (McKimson) Wilson and Roy Wilson. His sister, Susan Wilson, and his brother, Walt Wilson, have also preceded him in death.

Left to cherish their memories of Stephen and to carry on his legacy are his daughter Pauline Wilson Martin and her husband Aaron and his sisters, Kim Bowman and Michelle “Micki” Wilson and his brother John Wilson. His nephew Jesse Bowman and niece Courtney Bowman are also missing their uncle.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday November 2, 2022 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia.

A service celebrating Stephen’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday November 3, 2022 at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia. Pastor Dicky Spargo, of City Church in Gastonia, will officiate and he will offer words of comfort and hope to the family and friends that gather to remember Stephen. Stephen’s good friend, John Hallowell, will deliver the eulogy.

A graveside committal, with full military honors accorded by The United State Army and The Gaston County Honor Guard, is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Friday November 4, 2022 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Statesville, North Carolina.
