Sheila graduated with an Associate Degree from Gaston College where she met Billy. Billy was the love of her life as she was his. They were both devoted to one another and shared many special memories together.
She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. Sheila enjoyed visiting the beach and the mountains. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Sheila loved all animals especially her cat, Penny and her dog, Radar.
She retired after 20 years with the Gaston County Department of Health and Human Resources as a Job Placement Specialist.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Billy Long; daughters, Melissa Jane Long and partner Eric Hughes and Jessica Long Page and husband Justin; grandson, Hunter Bryson Hughes; brother, Dwight Pruitt and wife Betsy; sister-in-laws, Diane Pruitt, Bobbie Vaughn, Hazel Hamrick, Dianne Stanley, Delores Payseur and husband Keith; brother-in-law, Terry Long and wife Rhonda; and nephew, Bradley Pruitt and wife Jamie.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by brother, Danny Pruitt.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park. A private family graveside will be held at a later time.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
