Kenneth Parker Jr.

Kenneth Parker Jr., age 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born in Bakersfield, CA, but has been a resident of Gastonia since 1941. Kenneth loved people, and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Kenneth was the son of the late Martha Elizabeth Parker and Kenneth Parker, Sr.

Kenneth was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Gastonia High School, and attended both Belmont Abbey and Lenoir Rhyne College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He was employed as an Accountant with several firms including Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Company and Gurley Refining Company and finally as an Interviewer with the N.C. Employment Security Commission, retiring in 1999.

In his younger days, Kenneth enjoyed scuba diving, fishing and bowling. In his later years, he enjoyed completing several crossword puzzles each day and walking with his friends at the mall. He also was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gastonia.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Molly Martin Parker. Those left behind to cherish his memories are his daughter, Kathy Parker Dicken, and his son-in-law, Patrick Dicken.

The family will have a visitation service at Carothers Funeral Home of Gastonia on Saturday, July 8 2023 from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm and a private burial at Gaston Memorial Park.
