Betty Hope Pence Featherstone

Betty Hope Pence Featherstone passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Carillon Assisted Living of Cramer Mountain, Cramerton, NC at the age of 86. She was born in Cramerton, NC and was the daughter of the late Robert Murray “Footsie” Pence and Virginia Hope “Vergie” Pence. Betty Hope is survived by sister-in-law Muriel Featherstone of Belmont, NC, three nieces Holli Pence of Charlotte, NC, Martha Jane Pence of Gastonia, NC and Patti Franklin (Ronald) of Belmont, NC, and her nephew Randy Featherstone of Belmont, NC; great niece Kelly Franklin Hildebran, great nephews Jason Franklin, Robert Truette “Trey” Pence III, and Travis Pence; great-great niece and nephew, Allie and Noah Hildebran.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Featherstone, her brother Robert Truette Pence, Sr., sister-in-law Flo Pence, nephew Robert “Bobby” Truette Pence, Jr., and brother-in-law Marvin Featherstone.

Betty Hope graduated from Cramerton High School and worked for Cherry Bekaert & Holland and H&R Block. She was active in the Cramerton community her entire life and a loyal member of First Baptist Church of Cramerton singing in the choir and serving on committees such as Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) and as a Chairman of the Food Committee. Betty Hope loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and was a huge sports fan, particularly NFL football and men’s NCAA basketball.

The family would like to thank the staff at Carillon Assisted Living along with her nurses Pam and Traci for the great support and care of Betty Hope. They would also like to thank the physicians, nurses, and medical assistants providing amazing care throughout the years.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Cramerton, 235 Eighth Avenue, Cramerton, North Carolina 28032 with Dr. David Julen to officiate. Pallbearers are Jason Franklin, Ronald Franklin, Trey Pence III, Travis Pence, and Ronnie Worley.

Betty Hope’s family will receive friends from 11:30 AM -12:30 PM prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cramerton.
