Bessie Lee Sutton Black, 91, of Brian Center of Lincolnton and formerly of Gastonia, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Brian Center of Lincolnton with her loving family by her side. She was born in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Balum and Dicie Ogle Sutton.
Mrs. Black retired from I-85 Plant of Pharr Yarns, Inc. and was a member of Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Brian Center of Lincolnton for the love and care given to Mrs. Black.
Mrs. Black is survived by four daughters, Lorraine Glaze of Gastonia, Mary Ruth Kirby of Dallas, Geraldine Helton and husband Leonard, Thomasine Black of Lincolnton; four sons, Charles Black, Bobby Black, Steve Black and wife Gina of Gastonia, Rev. Wayne Black and wife Kathy of Townsend, Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 8 great, great grandchildren; 3 great, great, great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia and at other times, the family will be at the home of Bobby Black, 4599 Titman Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28056.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at The Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Dwyer and Rev. Wayne Black officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hillside Section of Gaston Memorial Park.
Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, Orville Black; son, Paul Black; six brothers; two sisters.
