Steven Lee Johnson (69), born July 24, 1954, of Gardendale, Alabama, left us on September 10, 2023, to be in the presence of our Lord and Savior. He was a devoted son of the late Lee and Bobbie Johnson of Fultondale, AL. He was a loyal husband to his wife of 36 years, Millie Johnson. A loving father to his two daughters Krystal Johnson and Kellie Johnson (Gardendale, AL) and stepfather to Teresia Mabry and step-grandfather to Lloyd Mabry (Dallas, TX). Brother to Wayne (Sonia) Johnson (Kimberly, AL) and uncle to Blair Johnson (Gardendale, AL).
Steve retired from Alabama Power after 36 years of service serving as a Compliance Manager in his last position with the company. Steve was a passionate, devoted and zealous Auburn University sports fan, a die-hard Auburn football fan and a 1977 Auburn graduate. He was an all-star athlete during his years at Gardendale High School. Steve was an avid fisherman that never met a fish he didn’t like. He also looked forward to his weekly trivia night with the “Patio People”. He was an All-In family man. As much as Steve was a fan of Auburn sports, he loved watching his daughters play sports; especially on the softball diamond from t-ball all the way through college. He was at every event he could possibly make. Steve was also a Marvel Comics fan, especially Spiderman since he was a young boy. When Steve entered a room, he was welcomed by all captivating them with his corny jokes and overwhelming personality. He had an infectious laugh that was contagious; when he laughed, everyone laughed.
A Celebration of Life visitation for Steve will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Celebration of Life Service will be on Thursday, September 14, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. both at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with Brother Randy Jasper officiating.
Steven will be laid to rest in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, AL 35071.
