Roger William "Bill" Dyer

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he cherished all the time he was able to spend with them. He was a long-time member of Calcedonia Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon where he developed an extended family of wonderful friends and neighbors.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth Wingard Dyer, retired second grade teacher at Gardendale Elementary; son Michael O. Dyer (Georgia); son Mitchell W. Dyer (Darla); and son Roger L. Dyer (Wendy); sister, Joan Lambeth (Bill); Sister-in-law, Faylene Pinyan and Charlotte Dyer; numerous nieces and nephews; six grandchildren, Christi Dyer, Dixie Woodard (Barry), Penny Teichmiller (Tony), Nicholas Dyer (Whitney), Caleb Dyer, and Matthew Dyer (Shannon); 14.5 great grandchildren, Brook, Will, Ben, Brodie, Darla, Viva, Levi, Bailey, Nick, Deacon, Judge, Trysten, Sawyer, Cullen, and a great granddaughter to debut in August; special friends, Ted and Rhoda Knutson, and Don Reno; many other family members and a host of friends..

Bill was preceded in death by his father General Ollie Dyer and mother Cora Rodgers Dyer; his first wife, Viva Lou Dyer; brother Bobby Dyer and sister Margaret James.

Celebration of life services for Bill will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Calcedonia Baptist Church, 5438 Mt. Olive Road, Gardendale, AL 35071. with time of visitation to begin at 12 noon; funeral service at 2:00pm, followed by his burial in Calcedonia Cemetery, 500 Sardis Road, Mt. Olive, Alabama 35117.
