He and his wife Linda Stack Gaddy have been married for sixty-one years. Many friends and family called him affectionately by his name sweetheart.
Maurice graduated from Hanceville High School and Jefferson State Community College. He worked and retired from the Birmingham News in the Composing Room. Upon retirement, he took on his proudest job as a full-time Poppie.
He loved attending anything that was related to his grandchildren from sporting events to dance recitals to pageants. He loved adventures, traveling, and was constantly interested in reading and working with or on new technology.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Estell Knighton Gaddy and Robert Gaddy; brothers, Charles Gaddy and Frank Eskew; brothers and sisters-in-law: Doris Murrell (Rodney), Raymond Stack, and Clifford Stack.
Maurice is survived by his loving wife Linda Gaddy; his children Steve Gaddy (Leenise) and Elisa Handley (John); three grandchildren Savannah Gaddy, Reid Handley, and Reagan Handley; sisters: Barbra Ransom (Wayne), Donna Lynne (Donnie), Jan Thomas (Steve); brothers: Ricky Gaddy (Pam); sister-in-law, Martha Stack, Barbara Ruth Burkette, Jin (Eugene) Woodard; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, Gardendale, Alabama and visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, follow by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, Alabama.
