Melanie Beth Davis

Melanie is survived by her husband, Douglas Davis Jr., her daughter, Emma Elizabeth Davis, her parents Doyle and Jo Beasley of Morris, her sisters, Lana (Richard) Kyle of Fultondale, Kim (Duke) Briscoe of Hayden, Jennifer Holliyan of Mt. Olive, her brother Matthew (April) Beasley of LaGrange, Georgia, and her parents-in-law, Douglas and Patricia Davis of Fultondale, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whose lives she touched tremendously.

Melanie was born in Birmingham on May 25, 1979. She graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School in 1997 and earned an Associate Degree from Wallace State Community College. Melanie worked as a paralegal professional at several law firms in Birmingham. In recent years, Melanie dedicated herself to her family by working at home and homeschooling Emma.

Melanie fiercely loved people all her life. She was a cherished daughter and beloved sister. Melanie was the “fun” aunt to her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved and of whom she was immensely proud. Melanie’s gregarious personality and sense of loyalty gave her many life-long friends whom she deeply cherished. But most of all, Melanie loved her husband and daughter. These two were the center of her world. Her devotion to them was evidenced in all that she said and did.

Melanie’s love for people gave her a strong sense of justice and a heart bent toward mercy. She was swift to stand up for those she saw who had been done wrong, and her heart was quick to break for those who were hurting. Melanie had eyes to see the outsider and did all she could to bring them in and give them a place to belong. In all she did and with all she was, Melanie fiercely loved her people.

Friends are invited to join the family in a memorial service for Melanie’s life at Ridout’s Funeral Home in Gardendale, AL on Saturday, May 29, 2021. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30 with the funeral beginning at 11:30. Graveside service will immediately follow at Liberty-Minter Cemetery in Morris, Alabama.
