John Ross a resident of Mount Olive went home to be with the Lord at the age of 92. John was a member of the First Baptist Church Mount Olive and a member of the Sunshine Sunday School class. John served our country in the US Army in the invasion of Europe with the armored tank division and he was awarded: European-African Middle Eastern Campaign with four Bronze Stars, WWII Victory medal, Army of Occupation medal-Germany Clasp, Honorable Service label button WWII, Sharp Shooter badge and rifle bar and the French Liberation medal was awarded in 1990.
John was preceded in death by his parents John Paul and Mildred Lane Sisson; daughter, Jenny Brown; brothers, Brooks Sisson, Jerry O. Sisson, Tommy Sisson; sister, Brownie Lyons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Lenora D. Sisson; son, Richard Sisson (Margaret), Jimmy Carmichael (Sue), Barry Carmichael (Suzy); brothers, Ben Sisson (Sue), J.R. Sisson (Donna); sister, Frances Rhea; grandchildren, Steve Sisson, Brett Sisson, Eric Sisson, Jennifer Barber, Lauren Carmichael, Lindsey Bowman, Lacee Carmichael; several great grandchildren; many other family members and friends.
His services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Sunday, January 10, 2016 with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm; Funeral service at 2:00pm followed by his burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville, AL. services officiated by Dr. Jon Ferguson and Rev. Doug Moore.
