James Kendrick, 96, was born in Garnsey, AL and he has lived in Gardendale, AL, for 65 years. James proudly served our nation in the United States Navy – USS Tazewell (209), World War II (Pacific Theater). James retired from ACIPCO, where he was a supervisor, after 42 years’ service, he was a member of the Birmingham American Legion, for 69 Years and the Masonic Lodge #907, Gardendale, for 62 years and James has been a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church, for 55 years and he served with the Gardendale Fire Department for 49 years.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise McKinney Kendrick; parents, Walter and Bertha Kendrick; brothers, William Donald Kendrick, Weldon Kendrick; sisters, Jeanette Kendrick Gates and Sarah Margrett Kendrick.
James is survived by a brother, Bob Kendrick; sister, Joyce Kendrick Culpepper, nieces, nephews and host of friends.
Services will be held at Gardendale First Baptist Church – North Campus, on Saturday, June 18, 2016, with a visitation from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM; funeral service at 11:00 AM followed by his burial in Moncrief Cemetery, Gardendale, with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy. The family request in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made to the Gardendale First Baptist Church - Camp David Fund.
