Didnt get a picture of J. B. last time I saw him at Mineral Springs School Reunion but I did get pictures with his brothers....Robert and Joe Terry....known them all my life....

Just found that J.B. had passed away....my family  and his were life long friends...our Dad's worked the Coal Mines together in Sayerton.....;ast time I saw J.B. was at a Mineral Springs School reunion....his brother.Robert,was also there....

So sorry I have just learned of JB passing . Known him since I was a little girl. I never  saw him that he didn’t have a hug for me  and a story about us growing up.  He will be missed by so many.

I just learned  of JB's passing. I am in Woodstock Ga and have friends in Gardendale and have met JB at class reunions and we sat at the same tables and had good conversations.  He told me lots of information on Indian arrow heads . I have a book in which he did the art work he and signed it for me. I gave him a copy of a poem i wrote on American Indians and i understand he was pleased to get it. I wish i could have been around him more. He was a very likeable person. I'm sorry he had his physical handicap for so long a period of time and for his passing.

So many of us neighborhood kids have the honor to share similar stories about a great man.   Normally kids would be out playing but all of us neighborhood kids always made our way over to see JB at some point, to hear a story about indians or get something painted on our bike.  It was not uncommon to see JB on his roof of his house with a compound bow, target practicing for an upcoming hunt.  I remember JB taking myself and Gerald Deason arrowhead hunting in north Alabama telling stories of how the Indians lived on the creek banks.  JB, was not just a great storyteller, or hunter. JB, was a mentor and a role model who's character and love for people goes beyond expression.  I can say that all of us neighborhood kids looked up to JB and wanted to be like him, and for that you will be missed but never forgotten.  God Speed my friend.

I sure wish we had known this sooner, I just read it. 
J.B. Holds a special place in my husband and my heart. We’ve heard his stories, he gave us books and pictures on the Indians he knew so much about. He would keep us updated on you Curt, he loved you and was so proud of you. That’s how I knew you were a Pilot, J.B. told me when he found out your mom was our sons teacher. 
J.B. Painted many things for us. Banks my husband made for our grandchildren and many other children we knew. He painted two different bass boats. One said “Shoot Off” and the bass boat we still have today that said’s “AIN’T GOD GOOD”   The motor one side said’s “David “ the other side said’s  “Pat “  
He painted our grandchildren’s name’s on the back of their rocking chair’s. 
Oh how we loved Mr.JB Salter and his lovely wife. 
So many wonderful memories, I can’t wait to see him again in HEAVEN some day. Praying for his family and all who loved him as we did 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Words can’t describe what this great man meant to me. He had a way of teaching life lessons thru nature.  I only wish my children would have gotten to know him the way I knew him.  JB thank you for sharing your stories and knowledge but most of all thank you sharing your time with me. I will miss you. Rest In Peace my friend. 

J.B. Salter made a huge impact on my life growing up and playing football, camping  and hanging out with his son Johnny one of my best High School Friends I will always remember him for being a mentor and great role model and an exceptional graphic artist. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family for their loss.  Scout 42 you lost a great one brother ! Love ya

J.B. Salter will be missed by me and the Gardendale Historical Society he loved his history and was history himself. I loved J.B. and always enjoyed being in his presents while he and I shared historical stories. He and our other dear friend J.D. Weeks will have a lot to talk about in Heaven and sharing historical stories and facts.
Rest in Peace my dear friend and God Bless the Salter Family.

So sad that this day has come.  I will always remember the good times we shared.  I have always given credit to JB for strengthening my love for the American Indian and the western US.  Had he not taken me to Creede, I might never have had the opportunity to see and enjoy an area that he loved.  Another of my fondest memories is when he took me arrowhead hunting.  I don't remember how old I was, but that was the coolest thing ever for this little kid!  I learned a lot from him about the American Indians.   Uncle JB, you'll always hold a special place in my heart.

Our family was saddened to hear of J.B.'s passing. He was a truly talented artist and storyteller. Anna and family, I am praying God's comfort, strength, and peace for you during this time of loss.
