Harold Goff Jones

Harold Goff Jones, 87, passed away at home December 8, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Betty; sister, Fay Webster; and brother, Kenneth; daughter in law, Kerry (Bill) Vernon; grandchildren, Brian (Laura) Jones and Brandon (Jennifer) Jones; great grandchildren, Carter, Peyton, Anna Kate, Grant and Lila; niece, Myrna Nation, who was so helpful; nephew, Neil Nation, officiating the service and many other kind and caring nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Eric Jones; his parents, Russell and Wilma Jones; and brother Russell Lloyd Jones. Harold retired from the Birmingham Post Office, where he worked for over 30 years. He was a kind, loving man who, after retirement, enjoyed volunteer work at the Fire House Shelter and other charitable work. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Funeral services will be at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on Monday, December 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will be at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
