Gary Wayne Burch, 70, stepped out of this world and into the arms of Jesus on May 24, 2020, after a long battle with Parkinson’s. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Gary was a man of faith who was loved by everyone who knew him.
Born June 14, 1949 in Sylacauga, AL, Gary met the love of his life, Ruby, and they married on January 11, 1969. They celebrated 51 years of marriage this year, and their lifelong love and commitment set a beautiful example for his family and community.
Gary spent 27 years showing up every day to a job that he loved, and he instilled a strong work ethic in his three boys. A longtime resident of Morris, AL, Gary was also an active member of Gardendale First Baptist Church, and he loved the Lord, his family and Alabama football, in that order.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernice L. Burch and Lona Lee Burch, his brother, James Burch, and his sister, Magaline Wolfe. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, and three sons and five grandchildren, including his son Jeffrey Burch, and grandchildren, Blake and Kimberly; his son Timothy Burch (Kristie) and grandson, Tanner Josiah; and son Joshua Burch (Stephanie) and granddaughters Jillian Grace and Kendall Layne. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that are far too many to count.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. and a service to follow starting at 2:00 p.m at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Missions Fund at Gardendale First Baptist Church.
“Our dearest one has gone to Heaven.
We’ve said our last goodbye.
He placed his hand in the hand of Jesus,
and we’ll see him bye and bye.”
