In loving memory of Carolyn Dismukes, born on May 31, 1944, and peacefully passing away on February 2, 2024, at the age of 79. Carolyn, a cherished wife, mother and grandmother, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. She filled the lives of those around her with warmth, laughter and boundless love.
Married for an incredible 60 years to her childhood sweetheart, Louis, Carolyn exemplified the enduring power of love. Her unwavering support and infectious laughter created a home filled with joy and harmony. She leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment.
As a devoted mother, Carolyn raised two children, Keith (Karen) Dismukes and Karen (Kevin) Maples, instilling in them the values of kindness, resilience and love for life. Her family expanded to include five grandchildren: Peyton (Andy) Flowers, Tanner (Georgette) Dismukes, Owen Dismukes, Lydia Maples and Hayden Maples, as well as seven great grandchildren, all of whom were the recipients of her endless affection. She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Head, a sister, Mary Ann Smith and a very special cousin, Mary Anne Barrett.
Carolyn dedicated 22 years of her life as a loyal administrative assistant at Alabama Power Company, where her diligence and friendly demeanor left an indelible mark. She was not just a colleague but a true friend to all she encountered.
A faithful member of Hayden Methodist Church, Carolyn was truly loved by her church family and she, in turn, adored them. Her involvement in the church added another layer of warmth to her already vibrant life.
Carolyn will be remembered for her ever-present smile, open heart and welcoming spirit. In times of joy and sorrow she offered comfort and support, creating a haven of love for those fortunate enough to be part of her life.
As we say our goodbyes, let us celebrate the beautiful tapestry of Carolyn's life-a life woven with threads of love, laughter and lasting memories. May her legacy continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were touched by her grace.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
Carolyn will be laid to rest in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, AL 35071-2374.
