Andrew (Andy) C. Shugart was born on July 28, 1945, to the late Kathleen Davis Shugart and the late Andrew W. Shugart. Andrew (Andy) C. Shugart was a graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School and a 1969 graduate from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. After graduation he worked as an accountant for a national accounting firm. Later, He established the Shugart Commercial Painting Company, which became one the largest in the Southeast.
He was passionate about a job well done and admired achievement. When he was asked about his hobbies, his reply was “do not have time”: however, he collected old cars, visited historical sites, loved the Alabama coast and being on his farm.
He admired a strong work ethic in young people, therefore, to help students, he established the Shugart Charitable Trust Scholarship for Mortimer Jordan High School.
He was also passionate about the Salvation Army after having observed the lives of the service leaders of the Birmingham Salvation Army in the 1970’s.
Andrew (Andy) C. Shugart is survived by his brother, Willard Shugart (Terri), Niece Stacey
Lydecker Harrell (David), and beloved friend Joyce Sanders. He is also survived by his Aunt Betty Burns and Uncle Abie Shugart, and several cousins.

A visitation for Andrew will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 PM.
