Mable was the birth mother of two daughters, Jackie and Sharon. She was also a stepmother to Charles Stephens Jr. and the late Charlyn Stephens. She was also a bonus mother to Richard, Josh, and Gerald Parker.
Mable was a devoted grandmother. She assisted with raising her two oldest grandchildren, Tomica and Jonathan.
Mable accepted Christ as her personal Savior in the late 1970’s. She was a member of the usher board, very active in church activities, and a beloved member of Liberty Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
Mable was an excellent cook! She loved to barbecue for the summer holidays and cook a feast on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Ms. Mable, as she was affectionately known, pulled no punches and was a no-nonsense type of lady.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; Elvira Hardy and Julia Ersery; and one brother, Charlie Benham.
She is survived by her children: Daughters, Jacquelyn Pruitt and Sharon Gilliam; son-in-law, Glenn Gilliam; two sisters, Leola Johnson and Thelma Benham; brother, Theodore Benham Jr.; three grandchildren, Tomica Diaz, Jonathan Carter, and Justin Carter; six great-grandchildren; the Zimmons, McCovery, and Bush families; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
Ms. Mable was a strong woman and fighter to the very end.
