Today we are honoring and remembering the life of Jose Carmelo Bermudez Trejo. Beloved Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Friend.
Jose Carmelo was born in his beloved Irapuato, Guanajuato on July 30, 1941, to Bonifacio Bermudez and Inez Trejo. He had two sisters and five brothers. In his youth, he loved traveling between Mexico and the United States. Jose Carmelo loved horses and dressing in his boots and cowboy hat, his signature look. He enjoyed playing Baraja countless referred to him as a professional. Jose Carmelo loved listening to music, Los Teen Tops, Los Apson, and Los Hooligans.
He met the love of his life, Josephina in 1972, shortly after they were married. In 1977 they settled in California. Together they welcomed four children, Carmela, Maria, Ana and Jose Luis. Jose Carmelo and Josefina worked hard together to pursue the American Dream and without a question they achieved it. Together they purchased their home and shared their lives for 50 years. Jose Carmelo enjoyed working in his backyard and his garden. He planted trees and plants. They both enjoyed traveling to visit Mexico regularly. He loved having a good time with those he cared about.
In 1980 Jose Carmelo began working at Elmore Toyota in Huntington Beach, California. He was a dedicated employee and took pride in his work. Receiving various recognition for his achievements throughout his 31 years of service. He worked hard every day to provide for his family. He enjoyed attending Toyota’s holiday parties with his wife and family until he retired in 2011.
He was a loving, caring family man, always responsible. To the world, he was known as Don Carmelo. To his grandkids, he was affectionately known as “Lelo” and “Apa”. He enjoyed spending quality time with not only his grandchildren but great-grandchildren as well. He would tell them stories about how “Nina & Lelo” fell in love and make them laugh.
We will forever remember Jose Carmelo and his legacy. Taken too soon but never forgotten. Jose Carmelo is survived by his wife, two children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Hoy honramos y recordamos la vida del Señor José Carmelo Bermúdez Trejo. Amado esposo, papá, abuelo, bisabuelo y amigo.
El Señor José Carmelo nació en su amado Irapuato, Guanajuato el 30 de julio de 1941, hijo de Bonifacio Bermúdez e Inez Trejo. Tenía dos hermanas y cinco hermanos. En su juventud, le encantaba viajar entre México y Los Estados Unidos. A José Carmelo le encantaban los caballos y vestirse con sus botas y sombrero de vaquero, su look característico. El disfrutaba jugar Baraja, innumerables se referían a él como un profesional. A José Carmelo le encantaba escuchar música, Los Teen Tops, Los Apson y Los Hooligans.
Conoció al amor de su vida, Josephina, en 1972, poco después se casarson. Se establecieron en California en 1977. Juntos dieron la bienvenida a cuatro hijos,Carmela, Maria, Ana y José Luis. José Carmelo y Josefina trabajaron juntos para perseguir el sueño Americano y sin duda lo lograron. Juntos compraron su casa y compartieron sus vidas durante 50 años. A José Carmelo le gustaba trabajar en su jardín. Plantaba árboles y plantas. A Josefina y Jose Carmelo les gustaba viajar y visitar México regularmente. A el le encantaba pasar un buen rato con aquellos que le importaban.
En 1980 José Carmelo comenzó a trabajar en Elmore Toyota en Huntington Beach, California. Era un empleado dedicado y se enorgullecía de su trabajo. Recibiendo diversos reconocimientos por sus logros a lo largo de sus 31 años de servicio. Trabajó duro todos los días para mantener a su familia. Le gustaba asistir a las fiestas navideñas de Toyota con su esposa y su familia hasta que se retiró en 2011.
Era un hombre de familia cariñoso, siempre responsable. Para el mundo, era conocido como Don Carmelo, pero para sus nietos, era cariñosamente "Lelo" y "Apa". Le gustaba pasar tiempo de calidad no solo con sus nietos sino también con sus bisnietos. Les contaba historias sobre cómo "Nina y Lelo" se enamoraron y los hacía reír.
Siempre recordaremos al Señor José Carmelo y su legado. Tomado demasiado pronto pero nunca olvidado. Al Señor José Carmelo lo sobreviven su esposa, dos hijos, seis nietos y seis bisnietos.
