Spencer Sindel, age 67 of New Albany, passed away on November 27, 2023. He was born on January 4th, 1956 in Columbus, Ohio. Spence graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1974, where he was a 3-year letterman in football, basketball, and baseball, earning multiple league and city-wide honors. Spencer attended and graduated The Ohio State University in 1978, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and later on, a Masters degree from Marygrove College in Education. Spencer began teaching History and Social Studies at Whitehall-Yearling High School in 1979, retiring 35 years later in 2014. During his career, Spencer would coach varsity football, girls’ basketball, and become the head baseball coach at Whitehall. Later, he would coach all three of his sons in little league baseball, varsity football, and varsity baseball at New Albany High School. Spence enjoyed fishing, owning and watching his racehorses, and watching his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Bengals. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, including watching his 3 grandsons play football, baseball, and soccer. He also loved cruising around the world to places like the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, and South America. Spencer is preceded in passing by his father Wilbur E. Sindel (2003) and son, Scott M. Sindel (2014). He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (47 years). Son, Brian S. Sindel (wife Bodawnya) and their three sons, Spencer, Jace, and Ian. Son, Andrew P. Sindel (wife Savannah). Friends may gather at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home (1051 E. Johnstown Rd.) Friday, December 15, 2023 for a 6PM memorial service. Visitation will follow until 8PM. Memorial contributions may be Spencer’s honor to the Scott Matthew Sindel Memorial Scholarship at Florida Institute of Technology.
