Bob was born on December 11, 1937 to German immigrants in the Bronx, New York. Bob enjoyed sports as a child and young man and was especially fond of the Yankees. He graduated from Marlboro High School at the age of 17 and moved to Schenectady, NY to become a draftsman for the General Electric Company. He progressed in his career eventually retiring from the Foxboro Company as a Vice President of Engineering in 1998.
Bob met his beloved wife Connie in Schenectady and they were married in 1958. They were each other’s lifelong companions and friends to the point where they sometimes even wore matching clothes. They were blessed with two children, Alan and Andrew.
Upon his retirement and move to Johnstown, Ohio, Bob continued his tireless commitment to his community. He served on the Liberty Township zoning board, helped found the Johnstown Area Seniors club, and was a member of the Alexandria Buckeyes Senior Club. He also used his gifts and life experience by investing in his local congregation, The Church of the Ascension, by working on the finance and building committees as well as in the benevolence organization, St. Vincent de Paul, giving people in need a helping hand. He did all this while loving his grandchildren actively by being at all their activities and hosting many birthday parties in his home.
After a life-altering car accident in 2017, he took a long path of recovery that ended with him being an active resident at The Avalon of New Albany. There his faith in Jesus grew. He used his challenges to encourage others who were facing life’s difficulties. He led Bible studies and encouraged many others that were suffering. He will long be remembered for his faithful influence and encouragement of others. He used to shake his head and laugh when others called him “Pastor Bob”.
Bob is survived by his children, Alan (Tina), Andrew (Cindy); and four grandchildren, Alyssa, Rebecca, Benjamin, and Joseph (Maria); and many friends.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Connie, his sister, Norma (Terry).
Bob loved people and will be remembered for his joy and excitement in the company of others and always being ready to share a great story.
