Joseph (Joe) Paul Knueven, 71, passed away November 30, 2022, at The Ohio State University Ross Heart Center. Joe was born on June 25, 1951 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Columbus. He always teased that he got the perfect birth date. It was summer and he was six months away from Christmas.
Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ida Pauline (Hahn) Knueven and by his father-in-law, Richard West.
He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Barbara, daughters, Kyndra (Matthew) Winters, Danielle Knueven, Lindsay Shy, son-in-law, Joshua Shy, grandchildren, Ava and Kelsie Shy, Olivia and Dylan Winters, Gabriella and Elijah McCarroll, and his faithful dog, Clover. He is also survived by his siblings, Catherine (Clark) Kent, Charles Knueven, Rita Knueven, and Philip Knueven. And, by his mother-in-law Alice West and sisters-in-laws, Carol Latham and Diane (John) Sorg, along with many nieces and nephews.
Joe attended St. Fancis DeSales High School and Franklin University. He was employed by Xerox Corporation until their closing in Columbus. He then worked at Watkins Printing Company until he retired. He was a hard worker, striving to be a perfectionist in any job he was given.
Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Most people knew Joe for his honesty and gift of talk. Sharing his opinions, whether you agreed or not. He loved sports, especially baseball, basketball, and hockey. He enjoyed attending Blue Jacket and Columbus Clipper games. Joe loved all genres of music, especially songs from the 60s and 70s. At home, he enjoyed tending the yard; mowing grass, gardening and snow removal. Joe loved the lakehouse that they purchased several years ago. Including walks along the Lake Erie shoreline, walking Clover in Lakeview Park, and visiting the many restaurants and sights in the area.
Joe attended St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Parish in Gahanna, Ohio. Joe was very religious, but quiet in his faith.
Visitation will be at Schoedinger Northeast (Gahanna), on Tuesday, December 13, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm; following with the Holy Rosary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Parish Church, with Father Ted Sill presiding. Graveside service will follow at Mifflin Cemetery, on Ridenhour Rd., Gahanna.
