Gladys L Stehle

Gladys was born on October 4, 1938 in Springfield, Ohio to James and Louise Smith. She graduated from Northeastern High School and was employed by the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney Jim Berry and served as the president of the Springfield Legal Secretaries Association. In 1969, her roommate and friend Sonya Cyphers set Gladys up on a blind date with William and it was love at first sight. On August 22, 1970, they married and spent the next 52 years together, raising two sons in Gahanna, Ohio.

In the past several years she enjoyed weekends at Lake Erie with her close friends.

Gladys was predeceased by her father James Smith and mother Louise, sister Louise Spradlin and brothers Henry Smith and Cecil Smith. In addition to her loving husband and children, Gladys left behind sister Mary (Jim) Hillard of Springfield, brothers Keith (Cathy) Smith and Jerry (Anita) Smith of Springfield, as well as sisters-in-law Cheryl Smith of Springfield, Linda Smith of Tazewell, TN, Penny Klestinski of Libertyville, IL, Susan Ritalahti of Renton, WA, Judy Stehle of Sandusky, OH.

She cherished her grandchildren Devin (Josh) Crumbliss, Beth Heaberlin, Adam Heaberlin, Tom Heaberlin, Sarah Heaberlin and countless other nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 10AM - 12PM on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast Funeral Home at 1051 East Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43220. A brief service will be held at noon. Services will conclude with interment Mifflin Cemetery.
