Dorothy Jean Stewart

Dorothy Jean Chaney Stewart, 87, of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024. She was born August 19, 1936 to the late Parker and Sadie Chaney. She grew up on a farm outside Racine, Ohio. She graduated from Racine High School where her extra-curricular activities involved various singing opportunities, a passion that continued in her married life to Pastor Robert Stewart. She often said as a young girl she always felt she would marry a preacher someday. Pastor Bob’s ministry was also Dorothy’s, and she spent her life in support of his calling. He was serious, she was entertaining, and if you knew her, you know why nothing more needs to be said about that. Please share your own “Dorothy stories” with your friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Parker and Sadie Chaney; brother Johnny; sisters, Katherine, May and Linda; Husband Robert Stewart. Dorothy is survived by; son Rick (Janet) Stewart; daughter Tami Bick; daughter Sandie Winters (Bob); son Robert Stewart; daughter Debbie Orihood; twelve grandchildren; and twenty three great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Shoedinger Northeast Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Friday, February 16 at the Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 425 S. Hamilton Road, Gahanna, Ohio, viewing at 10 am. A service will follow at 11 am with Pastor Tim Swanson officiating. Interment following the service at Mifflin Township Cemetery, 218 Agler Road, Gahanna, Ohio at 12:30 pm.
