Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for “Miss Jo” Quinn, age 88, who passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Revs. Wayne Burns, Lauil Thompson and Bill Drummons will officiate with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Miss Jo was born in Etowah County and was a lifelong resident of Southside. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James I. and Flossie Mae Dick; husband, Harry L. Quinn; infant son, Billy Wayne Quinn; brothers, Theron and DeWitt Dick; and son-in-law, James M. Character.
Mrs. Quinn is survived by her daughter, Jean Quinn Character; granddaughter, Traci (Eric) Miller; Southside; grandson, Andrew Character, Bradenton, FL; great granddaughters, Quinn Dillard and Mackenzie Miller; great grandson, Noah Miller; sisters, Gladys Dolberry, Southside, Jean Holmes, Flintstone, GA and Jonnie (Robert) Baskin, Gadsden; sister-in-law, Maxine Allen, Greer, SC; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Judy Collins and Edna Garren.
Pallbearers will be Warren Fuhrman, Tommy Robertson, Loyd Watkins, Eric Miller, Eddie Christian and Ron Sewell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Browning, Oscar Myrick, Jerry Neely, Dovie McClendon, Ernestine Vinson, Erby Bolton, Becky Walker and Mildred Burns.
Thanks to the ICU nurses and doctors at Riverview Regional Medical Center. Also a special thanks to the staff and employees of Gadsden Healthcare, especially the 800 hall nurses and CNA’s- you became like family.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236 or to Humane Society of Etowah County, 4200 Brooke Avenue, Gadsden.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler.
