Vicki Estes Burford (76), of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 08, 2019 at 3:00pm at Collier-Butler Chapel. Rev. Ken Casey and Rev. Andrew Gregg will officiate. Entombment will be held at Crestwood Mausoleum.
Vicki is survived by her husband of 54 years, Maxwell T. Burford; sons, Marty (Ashley), Kevin (TJ) and Jud (Jeanie); and grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Lily, Jake, Cale, Eli, Chace, Campbell and Sam.
Other family members include nieces, Timi (Lowell) Dooley and Anne Marie (Craig) Bethune; great nieces and nephews, Adam (Melissa) Dooley, Lauren (Daniel) Arthur and Samuel (Natalie) Colegrove.
Special friends of the family include Cindy Brewer and the Gadsden High School Class of ’61.
Vicki was a member of Christ Central Church in Rainbow City, Alabama. She attended the University of Alabama where she earned her Master’s in Elementary Education and Ed.S. Vicki was a teacher at John S. Jones Elementary for 32 years. She was voted Etowah County Teacher of the Year in 2005 and was listed among the National Who’s Who of Teachers. Vicki made a big impact on all those that knew her. She taught over 1,000 students during her career, many she remained in contact with throughout her life.
Vicki was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her home was always welcoming and filled with love. She is fondly remembered by many of her sons’ friends as being like a mother to them. She would frequently cook big meals for everyone. She loved her family and friends and hosting large meals for holiday and special occasions. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Ray A. Estes and Virginia W. Estes and sister, Peggy E. Patrick.
Visitation will be from 1 pm to 3 pm on Sunday, December 8th at Collier Butler Funeral Home, prior to the service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her honor to Christ Central Church in Rainbow City, Alabama.
