Rev. Willie Guy Higgins

Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday-May 4, 2011 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Rev . Willie Guy Higgins, age 94 of Hokes Bluff who passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011. Rev. E. J. Reynolds will officiate with entombment at Crestwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing. Reverend Higgins was a longtime resident of Etowah County and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1977. He was ordained by the Church of God on February 5, 1953 and pastored churches in Blount, Etowah, Cherokee and Marshall County, Alabama. He was a faithful member of the East Gadsden Church of God and was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Inez Higgins, his parents, four sisters and one brother. He is survived by his daughters, Fran (Jimmy) Harcrow and Sue (Donald) Cole; his grandchildren, Pam Cole Moore (Richard), David Cole, Dee Atchley Theriot (Troy Theriot) and Scott Atchley (April Chandler Atchley); his great grandchildren, Tiffani, AJ and Lauren Theriot, Jo Moore and Haedyn and J T Freeman ; sister; Lucille Gargus and several nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to Amedysis Hospice, Dr. Webb Sledge, Peggy, Vickie, Phyllis and Mid South Home Health Care. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
