Lillian Pollard Smith

Lillian Nell (Pollard) Smith, age 88, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away at her home Friday November 3rd, 2023. Lillian was born March 4th, 1935 in Cherokee County, Alabama to Mary Chandler Pollard and John Wesley Pollard. She is survived by her sons Byron Houston Smith and Keevin Marvin Smith, daughter-in-law Yu Yu Smith, 2 grandchildren Charlie Ko and Helen Ko, her sister Vivian Pollard Mason, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Chandler Pollard and John Wesley Pollard, and her brother John Wesley Pollard Jr.

Lillian attended Shiloh Baptist Church as a young child in her youth, where she became a member and began the study of the Christian Faith. She later became a member of Bellevue Baptist Church located in Gadsden, Alabama and began working in the nursery. She served the Lord with love and compassion in the preschool areas of the church. Her greatest love was working in the nursery and with the youngest children of the church. She later served the Lord working in the Crosspoint Church Nursery where she was known lovingly as “Mama Smith.” She also had a love for animals and was a phenomenal cook.

There will be a graveside service at Shiloh-Bothwell Cemetery, on Wednesday November 8th, 2023 at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, all proceeds should be donated to the Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center, 4200 Brooke Ave, Gadsden, AL 35904. (hsprac.com)
