Larry Lamar Oliver,74, passed away on January 12,2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 22,1948 to Marvin “Buck” and Ivy Oliver. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glenda Livengood Oliver; his daughters Monica “Moni” Oliver; Amanda “Mandi” Parker; son in law Scott Parker; grandchildren Logan Parker and Brecklyn Parker; sister Pam Findley (Wayne); niece Ashley Findley Douthard (Jon, Mills & Meg); and brother in laws Ron Livengood (Jennifer) and Steve Livengood as well as many cherished cousins and friends. Larry attended Jacksonville State University and served two years in the Military. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 44 years. Anyone who knew Larry knew his love for golf which led him to volunteering his time as the President of the Junior Golf Association for 25 years. He loved the game, but mostly loved helping to teach it and the relationships formed through this program. His goal was to teach the art of the game, but most importantly to teach life lessons too, as well as, make every child be seen and feel special and encouraged, who came through the program.
We would like to say a special Thank You to all Amedisys Hospice Staff, Allison Vann, Rhonda Teal and special friends for the special care and attention they provided for Larry.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 23 at Harvestfield Church. The Visitation will be at 2 with a service to follow at 3. All family and friends are invited. The service will also be available for remote viewing via FaceBook Live through Harvestfield Church at 3pm.
