Tommy Phillips, age 61, beloved son and brother, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Rainbow City on Friday, August 18, 2023, leaving behind to cherish his memory his adoring "Ma" Fran Phillips and his brothers and best friends, Randy and Jodi Phillips, two special aunts, Gail Turk and Frances Phillips and a whole troop of cousins.
He graduated Southside High School in 1980 and remained friends all of his life with many of his classmates. He was employed with Gulf States Steel following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather until the plant closed at which time he became an ironworker with the United Ironworkers Local. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Tommy was the father of Dustin Thomas Phillips and Hallie Noel Phillips Nelson.
Tommy was an avid golfer and spent many happy days with his friends at Twin Bridges golf course. Most of his days, he was content just spending peaceful days at home with his funny pet cat, Pepe.
Tommy had one of the kindest hearts any human can possess and wanted nothing more than to make people laugh and be happy.
He was predeceased by his father, Gene Phillips, infant son Dakota Phillips, grandparents Joe and Frances Phillips and Neely and Bertie Noojin.
A memorial is planned for October 8, 2023 visitation will be 2:00-3:00pm service to follow at 3:00pm at White springs Baptist Church to share the many good times his family and friends spent with him. Bro. Lauil Thompson, Rev. Allen "Buddy" O'Bryant, and Ray Strawbridge will speaking. Please dress casually.
