Nan was born on September 28, 1941 in Gadsden, AL to Jewell and Woodrow Brackett. She lived in Gadsden most of her life with a short stint in Atlanta as well. She graduated from Emma Sansom High School and worked at Central Bank of Gadsden, among others before deciding to pursue a most meaningful career as a homemaker and mom. During that time as wife and mom, she also helped Jim at C&L Auto Parts with bookkeeping and accounting.
She was a devoted follower of Christ and was very involved in her church, Macedonia Baptist, in Coates Bend, outside of Gadsden. She sang in the choir, was involved in the Mission Action Group, and led a group of Acteens.
She was a loving wife to Jim Richardson, of Gadsden, AL. They were married for 43 years. She was a devoted and supportive mother to Jeff. She and her brother Charles had a very close relationship, and she thought so highly of him.
She is survived by her son Jeff, daughter-in-law Kristin, and their three children, Rylie, Bennett, and Izzy. She was preceded in death by Jim Richardson, her brother Charles Brackett, and granddaughter Angel Richardson.
A service in her honor will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden, AL on February 1, 2024 at 12:30PM. Friends are welcome from 11:30AM until the hour of the service for visitation.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to FaithBridge Foster Care (online at https://faithbridgefostercare.org/donate or via mail at 2555 Northwinds Parkway, Suite 500, Alpharetta, GA 30009) or promise686 (https://promise686.org/giving-options/). Both organizations help children in need of families and helped Nan welcome an additional grandchild to the family.
