Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at First United Methodist Church Gadsden for Jane Roberts Skipper, 69, of Gadsden who passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015. Rev. Harvey Beck will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Jane was an active lifelong member of First United Methodist Church Gadsden, where she was christened. She taught school for over 30 years, followed by a second career in Real Estate . Jane was the Boys and Girls Tennis coach at Gadsden High School and was also instrumental in developing the Bible Club there.
Jane was on the Board and a volunteer for MANNA, served on the Gadsden Planning Commission and was a Master Gardener. She was also instrumental in bringing YoungLife to Gadsden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E.L. and Bertha Sauls Roberts and brother, John Albert Roberts.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Ron Campbell; son, Scott Skipper; grandchildren, Dylan, Hunter and Lillie Skipper; and Don and Rebecca Smith and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be John Bone, John Freeman, Larry Grimes, Thomas Hughes, John Lefler and Greg Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Martin Fellowship Sunday School Class at FUMC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Gadsden, MANNA, your local animal shelter, or favorite charity.
The family would like to extend special thanks to friends and family and her amazing caregivers. Each of you are a true blessing. Also, special thanks to Dr. Bo White and Dr. Tom Corley.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church Wednesday.
