Alicia Jane White Harris, born April 14, 1957, in Gadsden, Alabama, passed away at the age of 67. Born and raised in Rainbow City, Alabama, she lived throughout the Southeast before finally settling on the Gulf Coast in Loxley, Alabama.
Jane was an artist from childhood, with a passion for drawing and painting. She could find beauty and art in whatever she was doing, whether it was creating a still life, painting a landscape, or engaging with the children she loved to teach. Her artistic talents extended beyond the canvas, as she was also a gifted crafter and seamstress, making cherished Halloween costumes, clothes, and keepsakes for her children and others she loved. Jane was a skilled cook and baker who took joy in sharing with family and friends.
Known for her warm heart and radiant spirit, Jane made friends easily and kept in touch with friends far and near. Her friends and family would say she was unforgettable, bringing light with her into every room and always choosing the positive view.
Jane was a beloved mother, wife, educator, and artist. She had a calling to work with special needs children -- a testament to her patience, kindness, and compassion.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Harris, and her children: Mandy (Travis), PJ (Sara), Preston (Sarah), Benji (Serena), Amber (Steve), Rachael (Gabe), Zachary (Jessica), and Megan (Daniel); and grandchildren: Olivia, Ellie, Joey; Sarah, Anna; Sunshyne, Vivianna; Hayleigh, and MacKenzie. She also leaves behind her beloved pets: Forrest, Maizie, Sassie, and Gizmo.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, William L. and Mary Alice White, and her brothers, Greg and Trent White.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Services:
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden, Alabama.
Jane's light and love will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
