A visitation for James will be held Saturday, October 5th, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Williams Southside Cemetery.
James was a deeply committed and loving family man. He resided in Riddles Bend with his wife, Mandy, and his son, Braxton. He deeply cherished spending quality time with his family; from spending time in nature on a kayak or relaxing rides on the golf cart throughout the Bend, attending concerts, and of course, Saturday’s on The Plains! They shared an unbreakable bond, and his kindness and unwavering support will forever be cherished.
James truly loved his career as a teacher and a coach. He dedicated his life to shaping the minds and hearts of athletes and students. His voice resonated on the sidelines, inspiring young minds to strive for greatness, embrace resilience, play with heart, and never give up.
James leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication that touched the lives of many. His caring soul and steadfast loyalty to his family and friends will forever remain in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Connie Tengblad.
He is survived by his wife, Mandy; and his children, Braxton, Allison, and Jackson. He is also survived by his siblings, John, Jessica, Jennifer, Jason; and a community of friends that will forever remember the profound impact he had on their lives.
Special thanks to Shea Monroe for not only being a true, loyal friend to James, but also for being the rock we greatly needed to help us get through this devastating process.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashville High School Softball Team in Coach Thompson's honor.
