Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. James Edwin Pentecost, age 86, Glencoe who passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Reverend Melissa Saccucci and Reverend Bill Parker will officiate the chapel service. Reverend Tim Saccucci will officiate the graveside service at Crestwood Cemetery. The family will accept friends from 12-2:00 PM. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mr. Pentecost was born in Calhoun County March 27, 1928. He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1946. Ed was inducted into the United States Army September 7, 1950 and honorably discharged July 23, 1956. He was ranked as a Sergeant during his time in the military, and on May 14, 1951 he married Bernice Truitt. Ed was retired from Goodyear, and he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Glencoe. He truly loved his church. He also had a great love for his granddaughters. Ed was a master woodworker. He deeply enjoyed working with wood as well as building anything and everything.
Edwin was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bernice; parents, James and Zula Mae Pentecost; brothers, Harry Lafone and Saxton (Richie) Pentecost; sister, Faye (Joe) Findley; nephew, Scotty Pentecost; brother-in-law, J.C. Kelley; sister-in-law, Susan Pentecost; and chosen brother, Donny Quinn.
He is survived by his son, Terry Kim (Glenda) Pentecost; granddaughters, Tonya (Danny) Laughlin, Andrea Pentecost; chosen grandchildren, Christina and Catherine Stowe; great grandchildren, Mikaela Elliott, Colin and Jacob Laughlin, Hunter Steele; brother, Wade Pentecost; sisters, Sue Kelley, JoAnn (Lawrence) Martin; sister-in-law, Terri Pentecost; and chosen sister, Wylodine Quinn.
Pallbearers will be nephews and honorary pallbearers will be Bill Ross, Rayford Fields, Ed Griffith, and Ellis McCall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glencoe First United Methodist Church in memory of James Edwin Pentecost.
