Jackie Stowers Sewell

Jackie Stowers Hutchins Sewell, 86 formerly of Niota, TN passed away 9-4-2023 in Alabaster, AL. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved and adored her family. A native of Gadsden, AL in Etowah County, she was the daughter of the late Dee C and Louise Stewart Stowers. She was preceded in death by her first husband Buddy Jim Hutchins and her second husband Alfred Sim Sewell to which she was married for 42-1/2 years. She is survived by son Alfred Sim Sewell Jr of Pelham, AL; daughter Cathy Hutchins Reynolds, son in-law Harrell Reynolds and granddaughter Kelly Reynolds of Alabaster, AL.

She was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden, AL. Upon graduation she lived in London, England for 3 years where she graduated from South Kensington College in London. She retired as an administrative assistant to the president of Gadsden State Community College with 20 years of service. Past occupations include: Alabama Technical College, Gadsden, AL; State of Alabama Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Gadsden, AL; Air Engineers, Inc., Birmingham, AL; U.S. Government-SACS Division-U.S. Air Force in London, England (Civil Service with Top Secret Clearance); and Hawkins & Rhea Attorneys, Gadsden, AL.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Alabaster, AL and a former member of Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida. She was an avid golfer for over 25 years and was a former member of Springbrook Golf & Country Club in Niota, TN where she was an active member of the Ladies Golf Association. In earlier years, she was an avid band booster at Gadsden High School in Gadsden, AL. She loved all things of beauty and took great pride in her home, guest house and helping to maintain the surrounding grounds. She also enjoyed entertaining in her home, dancing, shopping and walking. She traveled extensively throughout Great Britain and Europe and was an avid cruiser.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Robert C. Snyder (nephew), The Healthcare Center at Buck Creek and ExpectCare.

Based on her wishes, a private graveside ceremony will be held at Forrest Cemetery in Gadsden, AL. She also requested no flowers. Services provided by Collier Butler Funeral Home, Gadsden, AL.
